Afternoon Note

Wait-and-See Game

By Karina Hernandez, Senior Research Analyst

Major indices are holding slim gains and remain in green territory. Investors await earnings results from two of the Magnificent Seven (more below) and Fed comments at 2:00 P.M. EST.

It’s a wait and see game in today’s action with lower-than-average volume and tight breadth figures.

Five sectors are moving higher with Utilities (XLU) coming out ahead and getting a boost from American Electric Power (AEP) and Entergy (ETR) earnings. The Utilities (XLU) sector has become the Swiss Army Knife of stock portfolios and is now at the center of the global race to accelerate the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Energy (XLE) is the laggard.

Magnificent Seven names are mixed with investors awaiting Meta Platforms (META) and Microsoft (MSFT) earnings after the bell today.

Microsoft (MSFT) had seen declines following 3 out of the past 4 earnings despite beats on top and bottom lines. However, the last earnings report changed that.

Meta (META) has seen more positive reactions lately, with 3 out of the past 4 reports moving higher.

The Street expects a positive move from both stocks.

Comments
Institutional AI bots dump PARA stock on bad-story, cause 11% drop in stock price, just before earnings. Retail trader human, who pays attention, snaps up stock and rides it back up! lol lol lol
Love your show!!!
