Consolidation Time

For the board market it was the true definition of “spinning its wheels”, as the S&P 500 closed virtually unchanged.  Big movers were propelled by earnings, which is a good sign.

A defensive tone elevated safe haven sectors (Utilities (XLU) and Consumer Staples(XLP)) higher.

More broadly, largest caps provided comfort while low vol made the best gains across the size scales.

Today’s Session

The weekend, and this morning, saw the usual round of anti-Trump agenda pieces from all the usual suspects, including the Wall Street Journal.

In the absence of major news until Friday, I expect the market to trade in a narrow range. However, there is always one session during the jobs week that gets tested to the downside.

The key is for gains to consolidate above the 200-day moving average.

Just like National Review magazine the WSJ has been contaminated with the same globalist liberal thinking. It was sad for me to cancel each of those subscriptions.

I agree with Fred Claughs. National Review became dead to me when, some years back, they dedicated an entire issue to "The case against Trump". William F Buckley must be spinning in his grave. Now, WSJ has followed them dow the rabbit hole.

For better or worse, taking advantage of the dips at times to balance out what I assumed to be good entry points in the past and under water because of all the fear around this or that in the media around the tariff impact. All good companies, but some are cyclical as well by nature, with perhaps long-term growth potential. Time will tell.

Hey Charles and other interested parties. I'm watching The Shawn Ryan Show (Dino Mavrookas - Fmr. Navy SEAL (DEVGRU) / CEO of Saronic Technologies | SRS #205). This guy is doing something phenomenal.... Could you smart "insider" guys take a look at it through the lense of future potential. It's very entertaining, insightful, and enjoyable to watch. No response required. I'm just sharing something that's really cool and might be something for our future in naval defense. Darla

I cancelled my WSJ subscription earlier in the year after a 20 years as a loyal subscriber. I got tired and frustrated with only negative views of Trump and plans to take back the country from a very dark place. Started getting into it with anti-Trumpers in the article comments. I expect a bumpy ride up but I do believe in America and what is to come!!!

Strongly agree, its getting very difficult to read the WSJ. As much as I don't want to, I'm thinking of cancelling my subscription to the WSJ. Can somebody please recommend a financial/ business magazine that i can read and subscribe to.
