ASSESSING WARSH – DID SOMEONE SAY THE BAND IS GETTING BACK TOGETHER?

Friday’s session was somewhat anticlimactic, with Technology (XLK) giving back some gains and the broad market split right down the middle.

Getting the Band Back Together?

Communication Services (XLC) stocks rocked big time, along with Financials (XLF), Consumer Staples (XLP), and Energy (XLE).

Now that the fanfare has vanished, could “Mag Seven” resume leadership? There is a different feeling about hyperscalers these days, and growing angst about semiconductor stocks.

Scatter Box

These days, the opening bell rings, and stocks simply scatter in any independent direction. I’m not sure what to make of it, but I would feel better with improved correlation.

Meanwhile, today might give us a better “verdict” on how well Fed Chair Kevin Warsh did in easing investor anxiety.

Today’s Session

Geopolitical headlines are setting the tone this morning as crude pushes higher, just as it was on the cusp of moving to a seven-handle.

Meanwhile, the G20 is underway. It's more intriguing this year because of efforts by Scott Bessent to both manage the 30-year bond yield and pressure allies and other nations to stop doing business with Iran.
