Yesterday’s session took off after President Trump declared an energy emergency. The reach of the need to power the Fourth Industrial Revolution cuts across many sectors.

The Water’s Fine

Market breadth was bullish, breaking a record with the seventh consecutive session of 68%.

There has been a sharp spike in names trading above their 50-day moving average.

 

I’m a fan of the first Stargate movie, which had a great storyline about aliens colonizing the Earth to mine crops vital to their existence. The aliens built the pyramids and other historic sites that would otherwise have seemed impossible with the knowledge and limited tools available to humans at that time.

Next Stargate

Yesterday evening, President Trump was joined by modern-day robber barons to announce a new database-building program called the “Stargate Project.” The program will require a $500 billion investment over four years. 

Robber Barons:

• Larry Ellison $204 billion
• Masayoshi Son $31 billion
• Sam Altman $1 billion

In addition, Arm Holdings (ARM), Microsoft (MSFT), and Nvidia (NVDA) are also participating. This is a monster deal.

Earnings Power

After the close, Netflix (NFLX) crushed Wall Street’s consensus, and its shares soared more than 14%. Once again, the earnings power of mega-cap names is undeniable.

Economic data picks up today as well.

Today’s Session

All the excitement and buying following the “Stargate” announcement and a couple of big earnings beats. Let’s keep watching the ten-year bond yield. The more it drifts lower, the stronger the move in stocks becomes.
