The S&P 500 is trying to make it six days in a row with gains while the Nasdaq gains remain solid even as yields rise. The 10-year note was up 3.9 points to 1.675% and edging closer to that 1.74% that sent shivers through the investing world. 

There is profit taking on energy today as oil tumbles 2%, its steepest decline in 11 weeks. Consumer Discretionary is the best performer with Crocs (CROX) taking flight after a great report. 

We are in the thick of earnings’ season and firms that miss consensus are getting hammered. The Street has been monitoring this earnings’ season to assess profit growth, cost pressures and supply-chain disruptions for the rest of the year.
