Question of the Week

Now that the CDC said fully vaccinated Americans can travel safely, will you fly and/or take a cruise once vaccinated?

Afternoon Note

More Fuel To The Rally

Investors came into the session ready to go after a wonderful weekend of better weather, blossoming flowers, singing birds, increased travel and folks flocking to theme parks and movie theaters.

Then, moments into the session, this headline appeared (below), and the session picked up momentum.

CDC says fully vaccinated Americans can travel safely, but still should wear masks

So, the market was already off to a great start when another data point was released.  The ISM Service release added even more fuel to the rally.

At 63.7, the March read was the highest ever, up from 55.3 in February, and zooming past the consensus of 59.0.

According to the ISM, all of this was done against capacity restraints, material shortages, weather issues, logistics and human resources challenges.

All 18 service industries reported growth in March.

What’s intriguing about all of this is the market is much higher on very strong economic data.  I mentioned this morning that fear had gone away, which includes fear the Fed will not be able to keep its promise of holding rates down a few more years.

Yes - we had the shot and 2 weeks later flew. I would cruise if they would open it up.
From Texas- we believe in no fear.

In 2020, I cut back traveling but did not stop. I will absolutely travel more in 2021 whether or not I am vaccinated.

Norman Lee on 4/5/2021 2:14:33 PM
I juyst booked one for Croatia in August! Had to cancel before.

Leelee on 4/5/2021 2:16:26 PM
The destinations need to recognize and remove testing, isolation ect for vaccinated people. That hasn’t happened yet

Charlie Francisco on 4/5/2021 2:18:30 PM
Charles, I almost never wear a mask have not been vaccinated I have taken 10 commercial flights. The health building is garbage!

Michael Antzas on 4/5/2021 2:27:27 PM

Barbara A Ronzetti on 4/5/2021 2:44:53 PM
Yes, we plan fly once we have our vaccines and the world opens up.

Debby Deering on 4/5/2021 3:18:39 PM
We will not be flying or cruising, but we are taking the first of some road trips to see kids and grandkids,
starting next week.

David on 4/5/2021 3:43:56 PM
I never stopped traveling. I will continue now that I am vaccinated.

Bonnie Ball on 4/5/2021 3:47:54 PM
Yes, have received the 2 Pfizer vaccines and planning a trip in May and working a local election in Texas.

Terryll Nemeth on 4/5/2021 5:50:57 PM
We want to travel, but we're worried that we will arrive and everything will be closed and we will be stuck in our rooms/

Lorin K on 4/5/2021 10:07:54 PM
Hi Charles. We're still awaiting our first scheduled vaccine (April 22nd, finally). We have travelled carefully since last September - driving to see friends and family, again, being careful. Then we took our "bucket list" trip to Wintertime in Yellowstone in February, 2021. Flying was easy from DFW to Bozeman, MT. Everyone was social distancing, wearing masks. And we all should be washing our hands regularly, anyway.
So, yes, we will continue to travel, with extra caution even after our first round of vaccine. Life is so much better if you get up and get out to work or to play!
Thank you for all your positive insights and well directed pushbacks.

Leaving with family on Friday for FL vacation

James A Bologno on 4/6/2021 5:01:46 PM
We continue our travel by motorhome and have for several years. We really enjoy our domestic travel as there is no country more beautiful, overall, than the U.S. No internal flights again just yet.

Steve C on 4/7/2021 8:17:21 AM
Yes we will vacation but will plan with a reluctance to reward the woke airlines. Considering driving USA as primary option with an eye to patronizing small business.

David W Poch on 4/7/2021 3:16:20 PM
I am NOT going to get the vaccine and I WILL travel. I don’t believe nor trust in the government.

Carrie on 4/9/2021 11:21:18 AM
One way flight to Florida scheduled.

Judy Shaw on 4/9/2021 2:50:42 PM
Yes, I will fly. Am planning a trip to Tucson soon. Actually, I would have traveled sooner, but so many places have been closed, I wanted to wait until things open up a bit.

Pat Margeson on 4/15/2021 3:35:19 PM
once vaccinated no travel limitations.

Richard Huber on 4/20/2021 10:47:32 PM
I will fly, but I've never been interested in cruises. Too many issues historically with public health so my confidence in them managing Covid-19 is very low.

George on 4/21/2021 9:21:41 AM
I have not had covid or the "vaccine". Flew to ATL two weeks ago, no problems. I am not concerned about getting covid, do wash my hands often but always have. I have no fear of traveling.

Christiana Keeler on 4/21/2021 10:28:03 AM
Yes actually my wife and I are traveling for our 20th anniversary in two weeks!

Kalman GT on 4/23/2021 9:55:03 AM
I'm a pharmacist, my husband is a doctor. Didn't get a shot and will not get it. We take the same precautions for heath and cleanliness that we ALWAYS have. Have not stopped traveling by air and car during the whole time. Would NOT do a cruise however due to the actual recirculated air on a ship (it is not the same as an airplane) and the long term close quarters.

Booked trip to Panama City Panama 2 weeks ago
