Afternoon Note

Great Season

By Charles Payne, CEO & Principal Analyst

It’s a great session, and while there is a lot of excitement over the signing of Phase One of China trade deal, the event itself isn’t “news” even if it is history.  There are several messages from the market thus far today.

Earnings Matter

United Healthcare (UNH) had revenue of $60.9 billion and earnings of $5.1 billion, lifting the company’s market cap closer to $300 billion.  It’s the third most important stock in the Dow Jones Industrial Average and biggest weighting in the S&P Healthcare sector.

Goldman Sachs (GS) botched its earnings rollout, as the street was caught flatfooted with the huge earnings miss. The stock turned around as the session has progressed, as there are many have factors in a billion-dollar legal hit.

Weakness in Targets (TGT) sales, was mitigated by management reiterating its earnings guidance for the quarter.

Caution in the Air

The best performing sectors are would-be safe havens with utilities leading the way followed by real estate and consumer staples.

Housing Renaissance

Mortgage application numbers today were off the chart.

The news has helped the S&P Homebuilder ETF breakout to all-time highs.

The market is off the highs after the signing of the Phase One trade deal.

Charles, thank you for schooling stuart varney , shameful he sold his MSFT, BA is a hold ,but he cold have waited and loaded up around the $300-$304.51 a share range. Also its great to see you AGAIN teaching the kids, UNH is a monster growing and why so many people are unknown of it is strange. Charles PAYNE investigate IR ask please, is AAPL really working on a medical system line of airpods, wearables, but based on AI Hearing Aides that rebalance their ability from machine software learning to personalized services, with tinnitus cancellation systems. Just as airpods have blown away the noise cancellation system for people, imagine what billions of people worldwide ( babyboomers, and others, military &veterans, etc) . AAPL has the money, the technology, and WEARABLES that are medically available and APPROVED. Seems like a mrkt untapped ,that AAPL could and should help adding medical services and Apps . Just checking if you, Charles PAYNE can investigate , and talk about any information on this issue. Thank you Charles PAYNE. Bull market 2020 continues. Thank you president Trump. Life is great, INVEST long.

Thanks Ed I will look into your observations on Apple but know I wrote a special report a few months ago on why wearables justify higher share price.  CP
