Payne’s Passion

When I was a little boy, my mother was in secretarial school learning shorthand and typing.  Each night, she would practice using this line:

“Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country.”

I’m told there was no political reason for this.  Instead, it was the perfect combination of length and complexity for anyone to learn to type. Yet, here we are today, and the phrase is the perfect call to all to come to the aid of the nation.

And, that is exactly what is happening.

When the chips are down, winds are gusting, and floods are wiping away homes, we see what America is all about.

In a desperate hour, America has shown the world our best.  As we brace for a difficult weekend for Florida, and the 16th anniversary of 9-11 on Monday, America will continue to heed the call for all good men and women to come to the aid of their country.

Today’s Session

The market is exhibiting impressive resolve, staving off the urge to selloff into the weekend and ahead of the storm.  I’m watching the Russell 2000 closely, as the small cap index is considered President Trump’s proxy, and its struggled recently.

After that post-election surge, it’s been trading mostly sideways.

Currently, it is in the middle of its trading range, but it appears to be building momentum.  The ultimate buy signal is a close above 1,450.  Its fine for stocks to meander, although I would like the s internals to be stronger.

I also remain those typing words....guess I am dating myself?
