Ketchup-Marker Leading the Way

It’s been tough sledding for the market which is drifting with just a couple of standouts.  A potential takeover of Unilever by Kraft (KHC +7.53%) has the latter shares surging and consumer staples the only S&P 500 sector in the plus column.  On the flip side, the losses are limited with United Health (UNH) the biggest anchor among Blue Chip names.   But, the best sector of 2017 has been technology and its pulling the NASDAQ higher.

Tech Leads the Way

Tech slumped after the election but has been on fire because financial results and excitement have created an underpinning of support.  There may come another battle over H1B visas and even ideological differences on governing (see Zuckerberg Manifesto) but this is an industry that is going to dominate for years beyond 2017.
