It’s another merger mania day.  The latest mergers mega deals include:

• TD Ameritrade (AMTD) will being acquired by Charles Schwab (SCHW) for approximately $26 billion in an all-stock transaction
• eBay (EBAY) is selling its ownership in StubHub to Viagogo for $4.05 billion in Cash
• The Medicines Co. (MDCO) will be acquired by Novartis (NVS) for $85.00/share in cash
• Tiffany & Co. (TIF) will be acquired by LVMH (LVMUY) for $135/share in cash, a $16.2 billion deal

The major indices are all firmly in the green with Nasdaq and S&P 500 hitting new all-time highs, up 136 and 19 points, respectively.  The Dow is up 135 to 28010, and it is up about 3.6% this month alone. Technology is the best performing sector on news that China will increase its efforts to have greater intellectual property laws and punishments.

The safe havens Consumer Staples and Utilities are the only sectors in the red. McDonald (MCD) is down today but has reportedly settled a major labor dispute dealing with overtime in California.  On a positive note, a sell side firm, Longbow, thinks that fourth quarter comps have stabilized.
