The market got out of the gate last Monday, moving higher with a combination of bottom-fishing and chasing hot stocks.

This has been the formula since the market lost momentum last October. The problem is that such action speaks of lack of conviction, which is normal, but what’s been odd is that, long before the Iran conflict, there were far more reasons to be ‘long’ than jittery. The market was set up to rally – big time.

• Broadening participation on the upside
• Economic tailwinds building
• Potentially an accommodating Federal Reserve
