It was a rough week that still managed to finish with a glimmer of hope. While there are still a lot of unknowns and lurking challenges, it truly feels as though the ‘bottoming’ process has begun.

Make no mistake; there was real carnage earlier in the week.

Last Shall Be First

As you must already know, I’m not a fan of judging your portfolio or even the stock market within the calendar year. Only because it’s unrealistic for your portfolio, and a farce for money managers holding laggards for years that occasionally bounce but never recover from their original entry. It makes for good marketing to say a stock is up 50%, but if the position is down, it’s disingenuous.
Be that as it may, a lot of money goes into stocks, trying to game the market within a given calendar year. And we are beginning to see that with some of the “winning” sectors in July, although last week’s Heat Map reveals it’s still a dicey environment.
