Although major indices are at all-time highs, a recent uptick in gyrations has spooked investors, and more are seeking the comfort of dividends. It is wise for a portion of your portfolio, but also why everyone needs to make sure these investment dollars aren’t falsely put into stocks simply for high yields or as a throwaway.  

You can lose money in “parked positions” with fat yields. The Vanguard Dividend (VIG) Exchange-traded Fund (ETF) is +4.9% year to date, and +49% in one year.
