Here Comes the Fed Well, the V-shaped recovery had legs, although the experts said it wouldn’t, and the latest propulsion comes from an accommodative Federal Reserve. The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) cut rates by 25 basis points (bps ) last week and signaled several more cuts in the pipeline. Unless the Fed is too late to arrest the labor crisis I have been warning about for a year, and the economy avoids a recession, the impact of more rate cuts will be great for the stock market. Easy Conditions = Easy Money Leading up to the FOMC rate cut, financial conditions became more favorable, which also fuels the stock market. And then there’s history.
