Overconfidence Meets Opportunities During the run-up to the election, some in the media began referring to the Dunning–Kruger Effect to describe Donald Trump and his voters. Supremely confident but devoid of knowledge (competence) and unwilling to gain knowledge. For them, the professional had earned their place on the confidence totem poll. They were frustrated that the average person refused to listen to the experts (professionals). On the contrary, the public began to scorn and dismiss the experts. In the stock market, resentment toward bullish retail investors has erupted in the form of disdain that comes with opening rooting for the average investors to lose money. Right now, pros are more ebullient than those of retail investors. You could even say they are euphoric.
