After a tough 2022, many corporations decided 2023 would be more conservative to match investors’ demands for steady gains and relative safety. As a result, there was a spike in companies increasing dividend payouts to a near-record quarterly high. The number has slowed dramatically in the second quarter, but this is also the lowest number of quarter dividend decrease announcements on record.
