As Russia pushes deeper and more violently into Ukraine, images and headlines have become more gruesome and horrific. On Friday, headlines that the largest nuclear plant in Europe was on fire sent shivers throughout the world and financial markets. The bravery of Ukrainians has stalled and confounded Putin. Still, most experts think his conquest is inevitable, although he will never be able to occupy a nation where fighters will never give up on fighting. Meanwhile, economic sanctions are crushing Russia, as each day, more companies are joining with suspending operations or, in some cases, walking away forever. The stock market failed to carry over the momentum from the prior week when January 24th lows held. Buyers emerged after tough sessions and even into the close on Friday, but the week was lost.
