Dividend aristocrats have essentially been moving sideways over the past three months. It is not good news for several reasons. First, the S&P 500 has clearly outperformed the ProShares S&P 500 Dividend Aristocrats exchange-traded fund (ETF) (BATS:NOBL) over the past three years, and now high inflation is eating into real returns.
