https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C2oRZkTVEAIkOHW.jpgUpon Donald Trump stepping up to take the oath of office of President of the United States, it began to rain and the stock market started dropping.  I can blame Wall Street for the latter, even though they would like to take credit for both.

It doesn’t matter as both were short-lived.

The speech was largely a reiteration of Donald Trump’s campaign message, and if Wall Street insiders were afraid of the pro-America comments, they haven’t been paying attention.

By the same token, the best way to return prosperity to America is to call off the war on prosperity.

I have debated many President Trump insiders on protectionism, and a trade war, and they promise the new administration understands the historic risks.

That doesn’t mean Donald Trump may not have to follow up on a trade war, but I continue to see concessions on several fronts with NAFTA happening swiftly.    I’m not sure about China, but I suspect their economy is fragile enough to want to play ball rather than go into a trade war they cannot win.

Maybe, China could endure the pain better, but this isn’t the old China where a billion people got around on bicycles.   (Ironically, China and the Trump administration both want a stronger Yuan.)  In the past, the slogan “America First” was associated with complete isolation and bigotry, but there is a way to stay engaged with the world and take care of our citizens as the key priority.

God Bless America

"there is a way to stay engaged with the world and take care of our citizens as the key priority" - good point; "America First" does not simultaneously mean "Rest of the World never" as some pundits are trying to suggest

Nice to hear a commentary from someone who apparently actually listened! After reading the inane crap from CNN and The Los Angeles Times, it is clear that the extreme left plans to continue a tirade of lies to try to sell their own ideology. Their reviews of the inaugural speech bore no correlation to what was actually spoken. It appeared that their tirades against the speech were written before the speech was given, since they decried a divisiveness that was nowhere to be found in the real speech. Fortunately, in this age of information technology, we can actually listen to the speech and then realize the total irrelevance of the extreme leftist national media. The internet has not made them irrelevant, their own biased mis-reporting has done that.

I am confident that Pres.Trump will do everything in his power to make good on his promises. My only concern is that the American people who woke up and decided to be counted won't go back to sleep now. We are facing a determined socialist leaning enemy who have, for years, built their numbers. We must stay vigilant and engaged. It's time for Americans to see to our own need FIRST - it's not selfish it's practical and it doesn't mean America only.
