Which Side is Winning

More and more polls point to an American public that disagrees with the polices and priorities of the White House and more and more people are asking why President Obama has such a tin ear.  Surely, he must know have the public feels.  The answer to his indifference or arrogance is typically written off as being surrounded by sycophants.  But, a new survey from Pew Research Center points to a different answer.

His core constituency is winning.

The majority of democrats with post graduate and college degrees feel like their side is winning on political issues that matter to them.

This underscores the notion this country has become a great place for only a handful of folks- those elitists that summer in the Hamptons and rail against American military might not understand –and certainly do not appreciate- that they get to run their toes in the sand and drink fancy drinks on the beach  because so many of their non-elite countrymen and women shed blood to keep them safe.

The bottom line is that this is a country that isn’t living up to its potential nor matching its historic determination of greatness.  A more perfect union means we don’t put it in park and don’t dwell on the injustices of the past and try to re-litigate them.  There will always be political differences in this nation which means from time to time there will be large swathes of the population that are pleased and feel like they’re winning and there will be those that feel like they’re losing.  These days just about everyone feels like their side is losing- by an overwhelming margin.

They say that an effective president will have everyone feeling upset from time to time…but I don’t think this is that they had in mind.

Today’s Session

China’s market is getting hammered on string of banking news - none of it good - as that nation grapples with underground banking and above ground risk that could wreck the entire economy.

Shanghai

The pounding in China is not impacting our market this morning but there seems to be a tryptophan hangover.  Early reports are positive for retailers as in-store and online sales are robust.

Keep an eye out for nice moves in Target (TGT) (subscribers should be long already) and Fitbit (FIT) as well as momentum leaders in retail including Amazon (AMZN).

I am not forcing the issue on this half day of trading. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving and have a wonderful weekend.

Our President isn't stone deaf or stupid. He is on a mission to bring this country down several notches, plain and simple. Look back over the past 7 years and you will find significant evidence of such in his words, decisions and actions.

The winning side today are the environmentalists. Most likely well educated Dems. The power and influence of this movement is underestimated.

Head in the sand, universities are now Madrasas for Democrats who are very liberal. These professors need to get the Reagan treatment.... FIRED. Tenure is plain DANGEROUS. Our President is right at home with these folks.

Phillip is nearly correct, Obama "...is on a mission to bring this country down(!)..., plain and simple".

If you assume that everything our current President has said and done has been purposeful and clearly understood by the man himself, then it all makes sense and he is doing everything he has intended to do for what I consider to be almost nefarious reasons. To believe he has said and done these things out of sheer ignorance and stupidity is a gross underestimation of his real intellect, allegiances and mission. This view may seem extreme and unwarranted to some, but if you stop using excuses of incompetence and naivete for his anti-free market and anti-American behavior it all makes sense. I am very worried that we won't recover from the damage this man has done to our country.

Almost everything he has done is very contentious. He has and proves to be wrong on everything of major importance! The longer he stays in power, the worse things actually become. He knows how to blame his predecessor and the Republicans and any other opponent. He is arrogant, smug, insulting, and a Failure!

Prez compares Syrian refugees to Christians who were clinging to their guns and bibles 400 years ago? Anything for a near term favorable mention in the press!!!

The reason most people feel they are losing is because of the change in strategy by leftist extremists. They have employed a traitorous Supreme Court to implement a string of horrible policies which run counter to the will of the people and the Constitution. The truth is that with the success of such tactics, most of the people are losing.

This is typical of socialists throughout history; they are only a hair's breadth away from fascism and will without fail eventually cross the line to use force to implement their impractical philosophies which can never be sold on merit.

Obama is an easy target for blame, with a history of anti-American activity and no productive employment in his life.l, but we should remember that he is not a leader but just a puppet fool for the men who put him there. The real blame should go to the more devious scum in the Semate and smoky back rooms of the House. Reed, Pelosi, Boxer, etc. are the ones who have dedicated their lives to destroying everything which made America great, and they have weilded great power in doing it.
