The Dividend Aristocrats are companies that have hiked their dividend yearly for 25 consecutive years or more. These companies are considered the cream of the crop. Yet, these stocks have generally underperformed the S&P 500 for a long time, especially in 2023.

One problem is that the aristocrats are lumbering giants, whereas the hottest growth names often pay no dividends.
