Afternoon Note

Wild Three Week Stretch

By Charles Payne, CEO & Principal Analyst

I don’t know if it’s just the tail end of a wild three week stretch, or a break in the weather.  But today has the feeling of a lazy summer day, chilling on a hammock, and letting that nice cool breeze blow past your face.

Either way, it’s a slow day where the pendulum that normally swings between fear of missing out of making a lot of money to the fear of losing a lot of money.

Technology and Communication Services are under pressure, again, as a consequence of another pop in the ten-year yield.  But there is no sense of panic, even though several individual names are taking it on the chin. More and more investors understand this is par for the course in certain high-beta names.

Many are watching to see if the NASDAQ can close higher for the week, which would break a three-week losing streak.  I normally do not care about that kind of trivia stuff, but I sense the NASDAQ is putting on the brakes. There will be great trading and investing opportunities.

Have a great weekend.  Be safe and stay well.

Charles, Good idea about 4th of July. No small gathering, BIG party and celebrate Trumps legacy of Covid shots. DR

I know Tech has been taking a hit, what do you think the long term outlook is for Apple? Does this pull back present a buying opportunity? Thank you for the help and sharing your view!!!

I'm not focused on picking a near term bottom - I think Apple is a core holding and I do not plan to sell mine for years.  CP
