Reconciliation Lift

By Charles Payne, CEO & Principal Analyst
2/2/2021 1:50 PM

The market bolted out of the gate and it has nothing to do with the Reddit/Robinhood/GameStop saga and everything to do with $1,900,000,000,000.

It feels like President Biden will force through his rescue/stimulus package of $1.9 trillion via reconciliation and Wall Street loves that idea.  Certainly, nobody took the group of 10 GOP senators’ package of $600 billion seriously, but their meeting at the White House clears the way to say, “we tried,” for all sides.

Today’s rally is lifting all eleven S&P 500 sectors with Financials and Consumer Discretionary leading the charge.  Those $1,400 checks loom large for both.

After the close, two of the biggest and fastest growing company in the world report.  Over the past four quarters, these names a week later were up three times, including the last report where Google/Alphabet was up almost 12%.

Expectations are high, but even if they miss, or the shares pullback, it’s hard not to see them going much higher over time.

I’m comfortable with this rally. I hope investors in GameStop (GME) and others get a fair chance with all the restrictions removed.  Let the playing field be level and the chips fall where they may.

What happened to the days of buyer beware?
What happened to the days of the right to gain wealth as the same as the big players?

I agree with you, Jerry.  Why the hell rig the system for the richest people on the planet.
