A Super Bowl to Forget

It’s the morning after…the Super Bowl, and everything is moving in slow motion like the game itself.  This after Friday’s session, that on the surface, looked like a lackluster halftime performance, but it was really a very strong session for the market.  Energy surged, as the biggest names in the sector had great news. 

Market breadth was extraordinarily strong Friday with 100 new highs on New York Stock Exchange against just 10 new lows.  Also advancers and up volume were robust continuing a trend seen all year long. 

Still, there is anxiety over what gets the market higher from here.  It’s fine to have a retracement, but how does the market get back to the all-time high?

Today, I’m watching materials and drug stocks ahead of tomorrow night’s State of the Union.

Infrastructure will be pitched, and I think there could be a deal now that Democrats control the House. I am watching these names, which have performed well in 2019:
