Afternoon Note

Amazon Shipping

By Charles Payne, CEO & Principal Analyst

The rally peaked early before losing altitude, it was holding up fine until a report that Amazon is rolling out its own end-to-end delivery network to handle its business, but also pick-off customers of FedEx (FDX) and United Parcel (UPS).  The company has been testing Amazon Shipping in London and Los Angeles and may be ready to go live.

If the report from the Wall Street Journal is correct Amazon will target:

This speculation has been around for a while and has hit share prices of big names in shipping, but now it could be more than speculation.  If Amazon goes after this industry the way it’s gone after others, it would mean significant hits to profits.

The Dow Jones Transportation Index is taking a big turn lower, even names that posted strong results last week:

Dow Jones Transportation

I have a running ledger of industries and stocks Amazon was going to put out of business, so I’m leery about FedEx and the selloff.  But I would say the industry probably needs disruption.  By the way, Mercedes opened a new Sprinter factory in North Charleston, S.C. to meet the voracious appetite of Amazon, so they are going to be a force in package delivery.

Charles, with 800,000 government workers (TSA calling out sick over 10%, yet airports in Florida and other states , have decreased wait time, in fact streamlined efficiency!) Hmm longer the shut down, the more private sector should step in fill the government waste, "non essentials !" Literally many Obama hires can be cut, save $billions in wasted TAXPAYER dollars, build the steel SLATES BARRIERS, add border agents, JUDGES, and stop CATCH & RELEASE PERMANENTLY. The taxpayers are NOT noticing many of the NON ESSENTIALS GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES, so PLEASE PRESIDENT TRUMP TRIM THE WASTE, AND GIVE THE COAST GUARD & ICE, & BORDER PATROL RAISES AND THE WALL, ALL THE NECESSARY TOOLS THEY ASK FOR BUT DEMS WILL NEVER GIVE THEM. We are 100% behind president Trump. Thank you Charles PAYNE, & FBN. Thank you president Trump, Stay STRONG, AND KEEP THE VOTERS PROMISES THAT ONLY YOU CAN DO.

Wow, that is subscriber -- above -- that I'd like to meet! Is reassuring to know there is sanity left in the world. Let's build a steel barrier AND a big, beautiful concrete wall and make it 10 feet higher!

I think we're witnessing the crashing and burning of the Democratic party. The takeover of the party by the extreme left is just a sign of their desperation. What no one is taking into account is the impact of abortion on the old Democrat voting block. 25 states have just 10% of all abortions and they are mainly Republican red states. The other 25 states have 90% of all abortions and, except for swing states like Texas and Florida, they are mainly Democrat blue states. Higher rates among blacks and Hispanics, and I presume pro-abortion liberals, add to the toll. That's among the reasons why Hillary had 6-9 million fewer votes in 2016 than Obama had in 2008. Time is a major factor because the impact is cumulative. No wonder the Democrats want completely open borders. Unfortunately, Latinos have high abortion rates, too, so that mitigates the impact of immigration. Meanwhile, there is a mini-baby boom going on among our middle class. I went to my twin grandbabies birthday party on Saturday, and there were 19 babies there -- all about 1 year old! Amazing I've never seen such a wonderful party. There is hope. I feel like one cool Grandpa.

I wish President Trump would beat one drum about the wall battle. State that the annual budget is approximately 4.4 TRILLION. How much is 5 billion divided by 4.4 trillion? It is .00114 less than 2/10ths of 1 %! What utter BS. He should state that fact in an ad and run daily all day and put this fight in perspective and then include a run of Schumer, Pelosi, and other Democratic leaders past statements supporting a wall with much more funding. Use his bully pulpit to spotlight the astounding hypocrisy.
