Consumers Believe in the Future

By Charles Payne, CEO & Principal Analyst

I have been combing the data, and saying for a while, the American consumer was coming back.  While its business enthusiasm and investment that makes me most bullish, Main Street has to see its fortunes improve, and they believe it will.

Consumer Sentiment from the University of Michigan (final October read) says consumers are unusually optimistic on the economy, expecting good times during the year ahead, and over the next 5 years as well, and without interruption.

Five years of optimism is the kind of runway that sees people start families, buy homes and make investments.   As fewer Americans live in the moment and get back to embracing the American Dream, which hinges on long term, building blocks will add fuel to the economy.
