Afternoon Note
Profit-taking and saber-rattling, coupled with no major corporate or economic data, and we’ve got the Monday blahs big time.
One piece of economic data that everyone should take note of is manufacturing from the Dallas Fed. In the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey (survey of 390 Texas businesses of which 78 are located along the Gulf coast), the news is even more remarkable as general activity came in at a read of 21.3, +4.3 points, and almost twice the 12.0 expected by experts.
With respect to Hurricane Harvey, 77% of respondents said there was a negative impact to revenue and/or production, and 45% say the result hurts (slightly – significantly) hiring efforts.
As for the latest on North Korea, it just feels like something awful is going to happen before sanity enters the picture.
Market
The big trend in the market is profit-taking in momentum names with a lot of that money finding value in brick and mortar retail.

Unfortunately their is a megalomaniac Dictator who cares nothing about the NK people and he may do something really really stupid that forces our hand. The NK Military is utterly insane not to depose the fool. Hurricanes will hurt for 1-2 quarters then lead to a surge in GDP. Housing will flourish, autos will move up, construction materials and hard goods must be replaced! If DT would launch a WPA project for Puerto Rico, USVI, Houston, Florida and the Carribean thousand would volunteer and maybe we could come together for awhile and put this nonsense of dissing the USA on the back burner for a while. If they take a knee, give them the boot. I am through with the NFL for this season. Call it White Privilege. SyGuy on 9/25/2017 6:30:19 PM |
Those NFL players that take the knee is doing a disservice to the young people that look up to them. It's our Country let them help get it on its feet. Valerie L Kilbourne on 9/25/2017 7:33:45 PM |
Disrespect their own country while giving respect to mother England is insane. John Cowger on 9/26/2017 3:36:45 PM |
