Sun Capital, Fresh Off Apparel Buy, Eyes Furniture Brands-WSJ.com

Less than two months after turning its hostile buyout offer of apparel maker Kellwood Corp. (KWD) into a board-supported takeout, Sun Capital Partners Inc. is stepping up another shake-up effort - this one aimed at one of the biggest U.S. home-furniture manufacturers

Brian Sozzi, an analyst with Wall Street Strategies, suspects Sun is taking the same approach to Furniture Brands as it did with Kellwood.

"The similarities are striking," Sozzi said. With Kellwood, Sun Capital also initially took a small position, then launched a hostile tender offer only after the St. Louis company's board rejected two buyout offers.
