Ford to sell Jaguar, Land Rover for $2.3 billion - Marketwatch

Ford Motor Co. on Wednesday finally came to grips with what legions of Ford truck men and upper-crust British luxury-car fans knew from the outset: A marriage of the two sides was destined for failure.

...Wall Street Strategies analyst David Silver said he believes Tata stands to benefit most from what he sees as another Ford misstep.

"Tata Motors is getting a steal for $2.3 billion for the two brands; there is no question about it. Not quite on the level of Bear Stearns for $10 per share, but a good deal nonetheless." Silver said.

"In the long run, I think this was a bad move [for Ford]. If Ford was able to restructure its North American operations, Jaguar and Land Rover were going to be next," he said.
